TREN-D — Downtown Disney Marketplace

A new store opened today (March 19, 2009) at Downtown Disney, Marketplace. Replacing Summer Sands, TREN-D is a stylish shop that caters to the young-at-heart woman.

Everything from handbags to jeans to blouses to jewelry is for sale here. Much of it is Disney branded, but not all. And Minnie seems to be the character of choice on much of the merchandise.

I thought a lot of couples might be able to relate to this shirt.

But this shop has more going for it than just the merchandise. The Imagineers went to great lengths to create an imaginative and fun place that husbands and fathers can enjoy while their wives and daughters browse and buy. And if not, Team Mickey is right next door.

Also new at the Marketplace is a remodeled Guest Relations counter.
It now sports an “Arts & Crafts” style of architecture that is extremely reminiscent of the Grand Californian Hotel at the Disneyland Resort in California. I’m not exactly sure why this design was chosen as it blends with nothing else in the area. But by itself, it looks nice.

Construction walls are also up in a portion of Pleasure Island where the new dining establishment is going.

  1. i’m IN LOVE with this disney knitted vest that has a mickey pin on it and beads hanging down the side! i don’t know how to get it! please email me for info!

  2. is there any way to shop in this store online?

    Jack’s Answer:

Disney does not offer online shopping for any one particular shop. However, many theme park items are available at: http://www.disneystore.com/

You can also call Disney Mail Order if you know the exact piece of merchandise you want and at what store it can be found by calling: 407-363-6200

  3. My Name is Jenny Mullin. I Just was in the store Tren-D and bought a Blue and Green Beaded Bracelate that had a mickey head charm on it and it broke. I would love to order another one in the same colors if possible.
Please let me know what to do. Thank You

    Jack’s Answer:

You need to contact Disney. You can start by calling their general information number 407-824-4321.

  4. I was wondering on a few things..
What is the normal price range for the store?
    — Main Things

    * Which is August 18 🙂

    Jack’s Answer:

I’m sorry Erin, I only spent a few moments in the shop snapping some quick pictures. I have no idea what the prices of these items are.

I hope you have a great vacation in Auguest!

  5. Just visited yesterday and was instantly in love. I bought a really cute scarf which was actually on the mannequin in the pic of the dressing rooms. It has tiny silver studded Mickey silhouettes on them but unless you are looking for them you would never know. I also bought a black pinstriped fedora that just has a small Mickey silhouette on the side. The clothes can be worn on an everyday basis without screaming I’m a tourist or I love Walt Disney World.

  6. I just visited TrenD last night, and I was blown away by the styles and the selection! TrenD is very boutique-eque, and everything is beautifully displayed. I spent a good 20 minutes just walking around admiring everything. I even found the Ed Hardy style Mickey Mouse hoodie I was looking for in my size! (World of Disney only had XS and 3X available and I needed a M). I was impressed with the selection of non-disney brands available, too. I saw a lot of Roxy and billabong gear.

  7. What sizes does the shop carry? Are they stocking clothing for the plus size women?

Answer: You’re asking a guy what sizes the shop carries. 🙂

Sorry, I really don’t know. I will post your question and if others know and write in, I’ll be happy to publish their responses.

  8. in answer to Susan about Summer Sands, I saw most of that stuff moved to the Pooh shop, over on 1 side of the store.

  9. Im not happy they got rid of the golf shop. I used to buy my husband a new golf club with mickey on it .. last couple times we went down i couldn’t find any. i cant wait to check this place out.definitely new purse for me.

    Jack’s Comment:

To my knowledge, Disney does not sell any golf clubs at Downtown Disney, but they still might at one of the three pro-shops located at the various golf courses around property.

  10. I was thinking TrendD was going to be more like Vault Disney at Disneyland and didn’t realize it was going to only be women’s appearal. It also appears that the merchandise is the same stuff they have at Mouse Gear and/or the Emporium. I keep hearing they are going to offer more upscale, adult and male oriented ‘stuff’ but really haven’t seen that yet. Thanks for the great photos!

Jack’s Comment: It appeared to me that much of merchandise offered at Tren-D was unique to that store. But since I really don’t pay too much attention to women’s apparel, I could easily be wrong.

And I agree with you, the Disney male-clothing options are limited.

  11. My daughter will be so disappointed. She liked Summer Sands because they didn’t have the same Disney merchandise. She was always able to find a cute top or bag. With so much Disney stuff available they really didn’t need another Disney store. Summer Sands will be missed.
