Disney Pic of the Week: Audio-Animatronics

Light Meter by Lisa K. Berton

Audio-animatronics are a substantial part of Disney parks as they are attractions. What would it’s a small world or The Enchanted Tiki Room be without them? Nothing. And as the years go on they become more and more impressive. I only wish I saw Beaker and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew peddling their way around CA Adventure and/or EPCOT.

Most audio-animatronics don’t move too quickly, so photographing them isn’t much of a challenge unless you’re moving and/or the lighting is dim. Thar be no flash photography of Captain Jack Sparrow or the redhead in Pirates of the Caribbean. What are ye to do? Pray yer boat gets stuck, that’s what. Arrrrg.

This entry of mine was hanging around so I thought it’d shine some light on it and make the subject a star. Humans, put your hands together for….Flik!

You can see Flik and his bug-eyed pals at It’s Tough to be a Bug located in the Tree of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Flik’s Fun Fair in Disney’s California Adventure. Not familiar with Flik? He starred in “A Bug’s Life.”
